Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings! I pray that you are safe and healthy. It’s good and important for us to gather in worship and fellowship during these challenging times.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. Psalm 46: 1

Worship Services Live On FaceBook Sunday Morning 10:00 and on the radio at 88.5 FM

Resuming Care Filled Worship

You are welcome to join us we begin public worship again!   We have made a number of changes to allow in-church worship (for those who are comfortable assuming that risk) while mitigating the risk of COVID-19 transmission for everyone’s safety.  We realize that individuals have varying perspectives on the appropriate response to the ongoing situation.  It is our duty and responsibility to show our Christian love for one another by making these important, temporary changes in our worship habits.  Please read the complete ‘Reopening/Mitigation Plan Click Here

You will also see a seating plan to maintain social distancing by clicking Church Layout.

A partial list of the Guidelines for Church Services includes:

Reopening Alaska: Persons with COVID 19 symptoms should not be on the premises.  Reopening Alaska Phase III/IV Guidance includes “the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus…keeping distance from others is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.”

Face coverings: Face coverings must be worn by everyone entering and exiting the church as well as through the entire service.  Exceptions will be made for the pianist, the pastor, a soloist, and the reader when reading the lessons.  If you are unable to wear a mask we invite you to continue worshiping at home online or on the radio.

Length of Service: The service length will be shorter (30-45 minutes) in an effort to minimize droplet projection.

Airflow: All doors will remain open during the service to allow for extra airflow.  Please dress accordingly.

VERY SPECIAL NOTES: There will be no sharing of the peace, no communion, no coffee hour/fellowship in person after church, no lingering in church after the service, and no children’s sermon.

If you’re not ready to come back yet, we will continue to broadcast the services over the radio FM 88.5 as well as the online platforms of Facebook “Petersburg Lutheran 2018+” and ZOOM.  Please join us for fellowship time on ZOOM following worship.

Pray. Pray for all health care workers and emergency responders.

Reach out. Call up, email or even write someone. Offer words of encouragement. Listen to one another. Pray over the phone with each other.

Finally, if you have a pastoral care concern, call the Church 772-3144 or email plcakoffice@gmail.com or plcakpastor@gmail.com. We will be checking messages. I am available and want to know if you are sick or in the hospital or need to talk or pray. God is with us and will use us even as we are scattered.

Your Servant in Christ, Pastor Eric Olsen
